MAPS (Maine-Aomori Printmaking Society)

MAPS is an ongoing exchange of art and artists between the sister-states of Maine, USA and Aomori, Japan. MAPS was created and supported by Friends of Aomori, the all-volunteer non-profit that supports the sister state relationship in the US, and the leadership of the Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum of Art in Aomori. Launched in 2015, the MAPS collection has grown to over 100 prints and has been exhibited in twenty-five different venues all over the state of Maine (from York to Eastport to Fort Kent) and the prefecture of Aomori. An artist delegation from Japan visited Portland in 2016, and a Maine delegation is scheduled to visit Aomori in 2019.
